Regulatory Relief for Certain Stationary Sources to Promote American Energy

The order directs Federal agencies to exempt coal- and oil-fired power plants from compliance with the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) rule on National Emissions Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants. The exemption extends the current exemption for two years beyond the rule's compliance date, starting from July 8, 2027 to July 8, 2029. During this period, these sources will be subject to the compliance obligations under the preexisting Mercury and Air Toxics Standards (MATS) rule, prior to the amendments made by the EPA's rule.
