Continuing to Protect the Meaning and Value of American Citizenship

The order directs federal agencies to withhold documents recognizing U.S. citizenship, and to reject state or local documents claiming citizenship, for certain U.S.-born children when neither parent is a citizen. The covered cases include children with a parent who is an enemy alien or foreign-government employee, or whose birth involved a commercial arrangement or fraud intended to obtain birthright citizenship.
